Join BioMed Realty as an Accountant and play a vital role in shaping the future of life science real estate. In this position, you'll manage the financial backbone of our dynamic development portfolio, steering the accounting for cutting-edge construction projects. You'll take ownership of closing books, crafting financial statements, and building robust accounting records that support our growing portfolio of innovative properties.
This position offers a hybrid work model, which includes 4 days in office and 1 day remotely. Hybrid work may be modified based on the needs of the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the monthly general ledger close primarily related to construction activities, accounts and required support for assigned portfolio of properties
- Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts; prepare variance analyses on a monthly basis
- Review construction related invoices for coding and accuracy to ensure they have proper supporting documents in accordance with company policy
- Understand basic accounting principles (GAAP) and is able to apply them to day-to-day responsibilities
- Coordinate with project leads to record, monitor and reconcile construction actives. Resolve questions arising from unusual variances or fluctuations job cost activity and or construction account expenses, and provide general accounting support, as needed
- Generate standard monthly journal entries plus any other applicable journal entries with supporting documentation
- Assist outside auditors and handle special projects as needed
Job Specifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or Finance or related fiel
- 3+ years of accounting experience, emphasis in real estate, construction and development industries preferred
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP) and ability to apply them to day-to-day responsibilities
- Experience with accounting software and proficiency with MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, is required
- MRI (Job Cost), FAS and general job costing/construction experience is preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and communication skills
Salary Range: $31.73 - $39.90 per hour + bonus + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining pay, we’ll consider location, experience, and other job-related factors.
