Rules Engine Manager to lead the development and implementation of business rules engines for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate will manage a team of rules engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable rules-based systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of rules engineers in designing, developing, and implementing business rules systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and align solutions with organizational goals and compliance standards.
- Oversee the creation, maintenance, and optimization of business rules using platforms like Drools, IBM ODM, or similar tools.
- Establish and enforce best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor team members, and support professional development.
- Ensure the scalability, performance, and security of rules engine solutions.
- Manage project plans, timelines, and team deliverables to meet deadlines.
- Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Document technical solutions and provide training for end-users and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience.
- 5+ years of experience in rules engine development, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Certification in business rules management systems or project management (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master).
- Expertise in BRMS platforms such as Drools, IBM ODM, or Red Hat Decision Manager.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or other relevant programming languages.
- Strong understanding of SQL and database technologies, including data modeling.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Excellent problem-solving skills focused on scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in SAFe/Agile Software Development.
- Familiarity with VA environment is a plus.
- Ability to obtain a government clearance.
- Azure Certified Cloud Practitioner or any related certification.
