What we’re looking for:


Nexamp is growing their Operations Center in Lawrence, MA and seeking to hire a Lead Control Room Operator. You will be responsible for oversight of a 24x7x365 Operations Center engaged in the real-time remote monitoring and operation of Nexamp’s Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Energy Storage assets.  This position will lead and support the evolution of Nexamp’s Operations Center growth both in training, and quantity. This position will mentor and train a team of Dispatchers & Distributed Generation Operators (DGO) in the monitoring, remote troubleshooting and operation of Nexamp and third-party owned assets. You will be expected to be in person in Lawrence, MA for your regularly scheduled shift.

Your shift will be M-F, 8:30am - 5:00pm ET, with the ability to cover shifts as needed as part of the 24/7 rotating shift. You will report to the Manager, Operations Center. 

What you’ll do: 


The Operations Center Lead Dispatcher responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direction in prioritizing activities and tasks in the Nexamp Operations Center (NOC)
  • Understand, communicate, all Nexamp, Operations Center, NERC, Market, and other Local and State standards applicable to managing renewable generating assets in the Operations Center
  • Monitor and analyze the electrical grid operation for Nexamp power generating facilities and take appropriate actions to mitigate negative impacts associated with the interruption of continued energy delivery to the power purchaser
  • This will include dispatching of the assets, taking steps to maximize revenue, and maintaining compliance within the Local ISO. Currently - NEISO, NY ISO, CAISO & PJM
  • Lead the development of processes and procedures in the necessary scheduling and operations of Nexamp’s PV assets & new storage assets coming into service
  • Notify the Asset Management Scheduling Optimization team of any potential grid operation or power plant conditions that may impact plant performance and energy revenues
  • Coordinate with the appropriate Operations Maintenance (O&M) personnel for outage/maintenance planning
  • Interact with Dispatchers for outages as they approach to ensure Operations Center has up to date information
  • Keep Management apprised of major operational events
  • Provide 1st Line Support to Dispatchers & DGOs and escalate as needed within Nexamp
  • Mentor and guide the DGOs and Dispatchers providing guidance in support of personnel growth and performance improvement
  • Support and guide Dispatchers and DGOs, issue resolution, performance evaluation input, and identification of training needs
  • Lead the development and monitoring KPIs for NOC performance as a team and on an individual level
  • Lead the Dispatchers & DGOs regarding operation processes and system issues for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate with the Nexamp Performance Engineering Team to ensure seamless operations through integrations and commissioning of new plants, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Lead the preparation of training and training materials for the onboarding and continuous training of for Operations Center Dispatchers
  • Support the coordination of the Learning Management System and delivery of training materials for Operations Center Dispatchers
  • Serve as a key point of contact for non-real-time third party coordination for the NOC
  • Obtain and maintain any required qualification, certifications or endorsements to perform job function, as determined by the Operations Center Management and as required by the markets in which the Operations Center is currently and is planning to participate, while supporting the same for the Dispatchers
  • Detect and report Operations Center SCADA quality issues or improvement needed, in coordination with NOC Management
  • Capability to execute all Dispatcher tasks in support of Dispatcher’s vacations and callouts
  • Support NOC Management in the management of Assets being handed to the NOC, ensuring requirements have been met or exceeded including asset functionalities and RAMP build out

What you’ll bring: 


  • Bachelor’s Engineering degree or Plant Operations.
  • Equivalent demonstrated experience in a 24/7 control room setting.
  • 3-6 years of relevant work experience in a generation control room with regulatory requirements from a local ISO and NERC.
  • Demonstrated personnel management skills, and supervisory experience in a control room setting
  • Basic knowledge and experience related to the Bulk Electric System regulatory compliance (NERC, ISO, etc.) is required
  • Strong electrical system knowledge with experience with Plant SCADA systems
  • Strong computer skills is a must (Proficiency with MS Access or other database programs, PI, Word & Excel).
  • Rigorous and structured in the execution of work.
  • Previous training in the operations of a 24/7 Control room within a local ISO
  • Basic NERC Compliance training
