The Senior Scientist/Principal Investigator for a radiation effects testing project will lead scientific research and development efforts focused on radiation survivability testing. This role involves spearheading experimental design, data analysis, and the development of innovative methodologies to enhance the resilience of defense systems against nuclear radiation. The Senior Scientist/Principal Investigator will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to advance the technical capabilities of a radiation survivability testing program, driving scientific excellence and innovation in radiation effects research.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage scientific research projects related to nuclear radiation effects on materials and components, ensuring alignment with the program's strategic goals.
  • Develop and oversee experimental protocols for testing the survivability of electronic components and materials under nuclear radiation conditions.
  • Analyze complex datasets to derive meaningful insights into radiation effects, contributing to the development of new standards and methodologies.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, and external partners, to integrate research findings into practical applications.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, research papers, and presentations to communicate research outcomes to stakeholders and the broader scientific community.
  • Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and techniques to improve testing processes and outcomes, ensuring the program remains at the forefront of scientific research.

Requirements:


  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Active TOPSECRET with SCI eligibility clearance required
  • Ph.D. in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in radiation effects research, with a proven track record of scientific publications and contributions to the field.
  • Expertise in nuclear radiation testing methodologies, including Total Ionizing Dose (TID) and Single Event Effects (SEE).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex scientific data and develop actionable insights.

Preferred:


  • Project Management: Experience managing large-scale research projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to innovate and apply cutting-edge technologies to solve complex scientific challenges.
