The Program Director for the DeCPTR - Nuclear initiative will lead and manage a comprehensive program focused on enhancing nuclear radiation survivability testing. This role involves strategic oversight of radiation effects testing project, which aims to optimize resource allocation, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and develop innovative standards for radiation testing. The Program Director will spearhead efforts to revolutionize the testing landscape, ensuring efficient use of limited resources and driving technological advancements in defense systems.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the strategic direction and execution of a radiation effects testing program, ensuring alignment with the Department of Defense (DoD) nuclear modernization efforts.
  • Manage and allocate critical laboratory resources across a diverse network of testing facilities, optimizing efficiency and capacity.
  • Foster a collaborative ecosystem by engaging key stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and research institutions, to encourage data sharing and capacity utilization.
  • Lead the development of comprehensive, up-to-date standards for nuclear radiation protection, informed by data-driven insights and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Oversee the collection, organization, and curation of nuclear radiation test data, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for future use.
  • Implement rigorous review and validation processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality work products and adherence to established standards and protocols.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential challenges and ensure continuous improvement in program performance.

Requirements:


  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Active TOPSECRET with SCI eligibility clearance required
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in radiation effects research, with a proven track record of scientific publications and contributions to the field.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex projects and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.

Preferred:


  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of nuclear radiation testing methodologies and standards, including Total Ionizing Dose (TID) and Single Event Effects (SEE).
  • Strategic Planning: Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and execute long-term program goals.
  • Collaboration: Experience in fostering collaboration and building partnerships across diverse organizations and sectors.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing complex data sets and generating actionable insights to inform decision-making processes.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with DoD standards and regulatory requirements related to nuclear radiation testing and information security.
