System Administrator

Stellar Science is a small scientific software development company based in Albuquerque that is seeking an experienced systems administrator to join our close-knit and dynamic IT team.

This role demands a proactive individual adept at managing and automating complex system infrastructures, development servers, and collaboration tools across Windows and Linux servers and workstations. If you’re a self-starter with a track record of independently identifying problems, researching potential approaches, and implementing solutions in a collaborative environment, we look forward to welcoming you to our team.
The System Administrator will work onsite at our Headquarters in Albuquerque, NM.  Remote work is not supported for this position. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE


  • BS in an IT field and 5 years of hands-on experience administering both Windows and Linux systems; or 10 years in lieu of a degree
  • U.S. Citizen willing to undergo a background investigation
  • Designing and managing multi-server environments, with emphasis on automation and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash
  • Network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, firewalls, routers, and switches
  • Cloud services (AWS, Azure), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and containerization (Docker, Podman)
  • Active Directory
  • Storage systems including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage solutions, with focus on scalability and data security
  • SQL database administration
  • Security practices, risk management, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Excellent communication skills

EXPERIENCE IN THESE AREAS IS A PLUS


  • CMMC/NIST Policies and Compliance
  • Microsoft Azure GCC/DoD cloud
  • Intune Compliance and Security
  • Multifactor Authentication Systems
  • Configuration Management using Puppet or Ansible
  • Jenkins CI/CD or similar DevOps technologies
  • Git or Subversion revision control systems
  • Security+ certification
  • Active Security Clearance
