Senior Engineer, CI/CD

We are looking for a Senior Engineer
to join our growing

Platform Infrastructure Engineering Group.


In this role, you will work closely with key technical partners across the organization to ensure that BenchSci’s development tooling and engineering practices can support our long-term growth. Reporting to the Engineering Manager of Infrastructure, you will provide technical leadership across several areas within the team, lead complex projects, participate in project planning, and actively contribute to BenchSci's technical roadmap. You will work with other individual contributors while playing a pivotal role in helping us scale as we continue to impact scientific discovery long-term.

You Will:


  • Collaborate with our infrastructure team to drive high-quality designs to improve and scale our infrastructure provisioning and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Partner with various engineering teams and identify opportunities to improve our development tooling, frameworks and infrastructure.
  • Partner closely with other individual contributors and Engineering Managers to devise and refine requirements to create development tooling, build systems and services that accelerate the velocity of our engineers and improve their quality of life.
  • Lead software and system design projects by leveraging cloud-native design patterns and injecting your cloud expertise into the entire development lifecycle.
  • Act as an advocate for the company and its engineering team through various channels 

You Have:


  • A minimum of 5 years of professional development experience, with two years at a Senior level developing, maintaining and scaling CI/CD pipelines.
  • Developing, maintaining and scaling build tools supporting large monorepo codebases.
  • Experience working with build tools like Bazel (or Buck) considered an asset.
  • Working with infrastructure-as-code solutions such as Terraform or KCC
  • Solid understanding of Python programming language and its ecosystem
  • Solid understanding of containerization, and extensive experience with Docker
  • Working with any of the major public cloud providers like GCP, AWS or Azure
  • Ability to  translate business concerns into technical implementations
  • Ability to guide individual contributors towards making a decision while minimizing friction and using influence as effectively as direct control.
  • A track record of planning and executing complex projects that impact multiple engineering teams.
