TextNow is looking for a senior software engineering leader, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, to run our Core Experience Engineering team to deliver exceptional customer experiences on iOS, Android & Web for messaging and voice services. As a seasoned engineering leader, you’ll work closely with the product team to ensure that we deliver a high-quality user experience, frequent impactful new features and enhancements to our product.
This highly impactful role requires technical skill sets across iOS, Android, Web and backend technologies. Preference for candidates that have experience in voice over IP (VoIP) and or messaging (SMS, text, RCS) technologies.
What You'll Do
- Lead a team of Engineering Managers, analysts as well as front-end and back-end software developers to deliver TextNow’s Core Messaging & Voice Experience to our customers.
- Create and manage cross-platform (iOS, Android, Backend) engineering roadmaps for our core customer facing experiences.
- Closely collaborate with Product Mangers (PMs) to create, drive and deliver innovative, compelling experiences to our customers.
- Translate product requirements into technical designs and delivery plans.
- Ensure on-time, quality delivery of new features and capabilities.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly assess the app's performance to identify areas for improvement, and optimization.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in software development.
- Build and grow a team of exceptional software engineers, managers and technical leaders and be a strong technical mentor.
Who You Are
- BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years managing teams of software engineers.
- 10+ years of experience working in software engineering, in the mobile space (Android & iOS).
- Deep understanding of iOS, Android, and backends that drive mobile apps.
- Well-versed in the intricacies of mobile design, development, and deployment.
- Experience with Voice over IP (VoIP) and or messaging (SMS, text, RCS) technologies would be an asset but is not a requirement.
- Strong product mindset.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives.
- Expertise in Agile methodology and managing distributed development projects.
- Proficiency in establishing KPIs and driving best practices in software development.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
