The Business Development Representative will be responsible for identification, research, development and cultivation of relationships with prospects – acquisition targets which fit Strongpoint’s growth strategy. In partnership with the VP of Corporate Development, the Business Development Representative will be the “tip of the spear” for growth of the business into new markets and engage potential sellers by sharing the Strongpoint mission, vision, and value we provide to sellers.The role will be based at Strongpoint’s corporate office in downtown Chicago. The Business Development Representative will report to the VP of Corporate Development and will have a high level of visibility and interaction with the rest of the executive management team.
**Strongpoint’s headquarters is in Chicago – our preference is for this role to be hybrid in the Chicago area.**
What you'll do:
- Create and maintain Salesforce database of acquisition opportunities and engagement history
- Research priority targets and tailor outreach to each individual opportunity’s characteristics
- Evaluate and screen acquisition opportunities for geographic and strategic fit
- Make outbound calls and emails
- Manage outreach campaigns
- Engage with sellers to share the vision of Strongpoint and value provided to sellers
- Once a quality lead is generated, successfully transition the lead to M&A team
- Conduct on-going market research and new lead generation in tandem with outreach efforts
- Meet lead generation performance and new opportunity engagement targets
- Coordinate industry conferences, events and meeting logistics
Who you are:
- Minimum of 1+ years sales and business development, research, and outreach to both warm and cold targets
- High attention to detail with excellent follow-up skills & ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience navigating CRM system(s)
- Understanding of sales performance metrics
- Track record of success evaluating and engaging new business opportunities
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Finance, Economics or a business-related major preferred but not required
- High interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with potential partners
- Strong organization and project management skills, ability to quarterback the outreach process and manage all new opportunities
- Exceptional written and oral presentation skills
