Job Description

The Associate, RF Systems Engineer at Vorbeck will be responsible for supporting the design, testing, and validation of RF systems with a specific focus on antenna performance and system optimization. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in interpreting schematics, utilizing test manuals, performing calibrations, and analyzing antenna performance using both manual and software-based methods. This role offers the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and refine advanced RF antennas, particularly in frequency ranges outside of LTE/5G; with the primary bands of interest being between 3 MHz and 20 GHz.

  • Antenna Performance Evaluation: Utilize and interpret schematics, test manuals, and performance specifications to evaluate and validate RF antenna performance. Responsibilities will include using manual and software-based performance validation methods as well as constructing test plan architectures as designed in both anechoic chamber and open-air environments.
  • RF System Testing and Validation: Conduct hands-on testing and validation of RF antennas and signal processing systems, including using spectrum / network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and other RF test equipment to measure and optimize antenna performance.
  • Maintenance and Calibration: Maintain and calibrate RF test equipment, ensuring that tools are accurate and operational for antenna testing and signal processing system evaluation at any time.
  • Signal Testing and Analysis: Support end-to-end testing of RF signal processing solutions outside of the LTE/5G bands. Most signals of interest will be within specific frequency bands between 3 MHz and 20 GHz.
  • Field Testing and System Validation: Assist with field tests of RF antennas and their associated signal processing systems. Validate RF system performance in accordance with test plan documentation. Perform troubleshooting and optimize performance in real-world conditions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document each stage of test plan preparation and execution. Accurately document antenna performance data and test equipment calibration records. Assist other test engineers in drafting reports of test results to internal teams or external stakeholders as needed.
  • Other Support Tasks: Contribute to technical discussions, provide support for proposals, and assist with any additional duties related to RF system testing and validation.
  • Travel (expected): 10%
