Our solutions are broad utilizing a deep knowledge base and the tools of entertainment lighting, projection, lasers and practical special effects. We design, we engineer, we plan, we produce, we build and we expertly execute. We have worked all over the United States completing thousands of projects in the field of creative multimedia shows for clients such as Rihanna, Jay Z, Tiesto, Lady Gaga, American Idol, America’s Got Talent and multiple professional sports franchises in the NFL, NBA and NHL. We have also created permanent and temporary interactive installations for world class venues including the Staples Center, The John F.
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Smithsonian Institutions and Walt Disney World. The Director of Design and Project Operations will oversee the Design and Project Operations teams. The Design team is made of creative designers, storytellers, 3D graphics artist, lighting designers and physical effects designers. This team is responsible for dreaming and designing our projects. The Project Operations team is comprised of the Account Managers, Project Managers, Technical Directors and Technicians responsible for the execution of live event projects. By overseeing these two influential teams at the heart of our company the Director of Design and Project Operations has the ability to guide the direction and growth of all live event work. The Director of Project Operations requires a wealth of experience in the live event industry and is expected to help guide their team through creative problem solving. The ideal candidate will thrive in our fast-paced and detail-oriented environment to deliver innovative designs and solutions for our clients.
Departmental Oversight and Management:
- Responsible for oversight and day-to-day leadership of the Project Operations team
- Oversight for department and project budgets
- Ensure proper scheduling of projects, resources, and on-site execution teams
- Ensure project operations team is meeting project deadlines, supplying internal team with necessary information for project success and client response in a timely manner
- Ensure project inquiries and new project assignments are assigned to project operations team members based on individual strengths and workload
- Provide guidance to the Project Operations team in all aspects of project design, budgeting, planning and execution from inception through final completion
- Responsible for setting specific project and departmental milestones based on priority and importance to leadership
- Direct oversight of client projects and ability to step into operations roles as needed
Personnel Oversight and Management:
- Responsible for development and team member growth
- Utilize on-going performance reviews to formulate both team and individual development plans and implement trainings to foster the necessary growth
Strategy, Efficiency Creation and Company Growth
- Responsible for partnering with leadership to determine high level projects/ objectives with potential to improve the efficiency, continued growth of the company and its individual team members
- Provide financial based analysis and strategy to leadership surrounding what projects should be produced, what project categories should be focused on and expanded
- Ongoing collaboration with CFO and VP of Operations to review project profitability
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Business Administration degree required
- 8-10 Years of project management experience in the entertainment industry required with notable progression of duties and oversight responsibilities
- Management and leadership of teams required
- Management of budgets ranging from $50,000 to $500,000
- Working knowledge of entertainment industry technologies including but not limited to DMX512, Video Signal Protocols (SDI, DVI, Fiber, HDBaseT), Audio Signal Flow and Pangolin Laser Control a plus but not required
- Understanding of lighting and video design principles
- Experience managing a design team a plus but not required
- Working knowledge of Vectorworks a plus but not required
- Ability to grow, adapt and reprioritize tasks in a fast-paced deadline critical environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Office Suite
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
Salary Description$105,000 - $120,000 per year
