Job Description


The Senior Associate, RF Systems Engineer at Vorbeck will focus on designing and optimizing advanced RF systems and components, specializing in the use of additive manufacturing for conductive materials. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with CAD tools as applied to antenna design and manufacturing, along with expertise in metamaterials and doping techniques. This role provides the opportunity to work on innovative RF technologies and contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge systems for critical applications.

  • Additive Manufacturing of Conducting Materials: Lead the design and manufacturing of RF system components using additive manufacturing of conducting materials while complying with precise design specifications.
  • Antenna Design and Manufacturing: Use CAD and other design tools to manufacture and optimize antennas, ensuring their compatibility with specialized RF systems providing high performance against specific frequency ranges in real-world environments.
  • Metamaterials and Doping: Select and test metamaterials and doping techniques to improve additive manufactured RF antenna performance against specific signal strength objectives.
  • Combat RF Systems Maintenance: Maintain, test, and validate combat RF systems ensuring they meet operational standards for defense applications.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate new materials and designs into larger RF systems.
  • Research and Development: Stay current with advancements in additive manufacturing, metamaterials, and RF technologies applying this knowledge to develop innovative solutions for RF systems and antennas.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document design processes, test results, and research findings clearly for internal use and external reporting.
  • Additional Support Tasks: Contribute to technical discussions, provide support for proposals, and assist with any additional duties related to RF system testing and validation.
  • Travel (expected) 10%

Qualifications


Education


  • Master’s degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience


  • 5 years of experience with additive manufacturing of conducting materials for RF components and systems.
  • Proven experience in antenna design and manufacturing, with a strong understanding of RF wave propagation principles and antenna performance evaluation parameters.
  • Proficient in CAD or similar design tools for RF system and component design.

Skills and Abilities


  • Extensive experience with additive manufacturing of conductive materials and RF components.
  • Expertise in antenna design and optimization for specific RF applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and enhance RF systems and components.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to prioritize tasks and manage projects effectively.
  • Clear communicator of complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with military-grade RF systems and their operational requirements is a plus.
  • Knowledge in graphene applications, design, and printable electronics is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements across commercial, aerospace, government, and defense sectors.

  • Able to obtain or already possess a security clearance with the US DoD

Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000, based on experience.

Clearance Level:

This position requires that the candidate be capable of receiving a US DoD Secret-level security clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an active SCI-level Clearance.
