and Europe into Latin America.About the Role:The financial controller is a senior financial leader in Dura Brazil’s local headquarters; however, this is a “hands on” role that will be involved in transaction processing, accounting, and financial reporting for our Brazilian operating companies (presently a law tech portfolio, but which may expand as we acquire more companies). Locally, the role will report to the executive supervising the finance team, but it will have important functional reporting to Dura’s Headquarters in the U.S.
Key responsibilities will include:· Implementing best practices for financial systems, data integrity, payments, transaction processing, accounting, and financial reporting. This role will be the senior accounting leader at the company with direct responsibility for financial records and processes, both internally within Dura and to our external accounting teams.· Working with our outside local and global accountants to ensure the integrity of financial and accounting data and compliant local and global reporting. Our global reporting is on a consolidated U.S. GAAP basis.· Supervise and provide guidance to a bookkeeping team.· Support, on an as needed basis, for local Brazilian tax issues with our Brazilian outside accounting team.· Support, with our outside accounting advisors and Dura HQ, systems to capture and track data needed for consolidated U.S. GAAP reporting as well as internal Dura financial reporting and monitoring needs (understanding that local records are on cash accounting and presumed profit income tax method).· Reporting information to and implementing guidance from, the Dura HQ Accounting team, our local Brazilian accountants, and our global external accounting team’s Brazilian office that supports U.S.
GAAP consolidation.· Be fully responsible for all inbound and outbound payments and transfers, ensuring accuracy and following the proper governance structure.· Serve as the local finance partner to our regional CEO and global ExCo member.The role will a top lieutenant to both the local and global finance leadership. An opportunity exists for substantial growth to the extent Dura continues to expand in Latin America.Substantive Abilities You Bring to the Role:· Professional level English—both spoken and written—you will be required to work with the HQ teams from the U.S. exclusively in English.· Native level Portuguese· Solid experience with U.S. GAAP consolidated financial reporting and accounting· Experience with Brazilian cash accounting and presumed tax profit models, preferably with conversions to U.S. GAAP· Outstanding skills with Excel and standard financial reporting programs and tools· Ability to translate and summarize Portuguese-based documents and Brazilian accounting and compliance concepts for a U.S. audience· Excellent accounting knowledge and the ability to talk about complex accounting and business concepts with U.S. C-level executives who are experts in these areas.· Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to work with and fix financial records previously maintained by others that now need to meet the standard of a U.S.-based global SaaS-acquirer.· Qualified accountant in Brazil· University degree in accounting, finance, or a similarly applicable field· Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.· Compliance: Ensure compliance with all US GAAP regulations and reporting requirements.· Internal Controls: Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.· Audit Coordination: Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion.· Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.· Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.· Regulatory Updates: Stay updated on changes in US GAAP and other relevant regulations, ensuring the company’s financial practices remain compliant.· System Implementation: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.· Multinational Coordination: Collaborate with international teams to ensure consistent financial practices and reporting across all regions.
Preferred Education and Experience:
