Job Summary:
Performs molecular genetic assays and general laboratory maintenance for the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) team.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Carries out laboratory procedures such as library preparations, amplification, enrichment, library dilutions, sample pooling, sample quantification and quality assessment, and loading of samples onto sequencers.• Performs administrative tasks such as sample tracking, pooling documentation, and sample sheet creation. • Assists with special projects for validation and implementation of new NGS products and procedures. • Maintains records of laboratory work and sample tracking. • Follows all laboratory protocols and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documents appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required. • Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory equipment, including Beckman and Tecan automated liquid handlers; Agilent Tapestation; and Next Generation Sequencing instruments. • Monitors and maintains supply inventories and reagent stocks. • Assists with general maintenance and organization for the team / department.• Assists with troubleshooting issues with assays, equipment, or procedures.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• 4- year Bachelor degree or higher a Biological Science or related field • Computer literacy of Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing • Minimum of 1 year previous laboratory experience with Next Generation Sequencing procedures • 3+ years of general laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, qPCR, NGS, Illumina SNP arrays, DNA extractions, capillary electrophoresis, etc.)Salary Description$ 55-65,000 per year
