As an Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for defining and guiding the organization’s technology vision, strategy, and roadmap to support business objectives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of technology within a rapidly evolving organization. The EA will be responsible for the strategic oversight of MagMutual's technology architecture. This includes creating and maintaining the technology strategy, aligning business and technical goals, and leading technical innovation across value streams. The ideal candidate will collaborate with System Architects, Platform Engineers and other key stakeholders to ensure that the enterprise's architecture aligns with both short-term and long-term business objectives, while ensuring that technology investments provide maximum value.
Responsibilities:
Align Business and Technical Strategies:
- Collaborate with business and technical leaders to align organizational goals with optimal architectural designs.
- Define and communicate the organization’s technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business strategy and value streams.
- Lead strategic discussions with Lean Portfolio Management (LPM), business executives, and stakeholders to create and execute strategic themes.
- Respond to emerging opportunities and technical challenges, providing recommendations for technological solutions that support business agility and innovation.
- Implement and lead Architecture Review Board (ARB).
Establish the Portfolio’s Intentional Architecture:
- Guide the development and maintenance of the architectural runway to ensure a solid foundation for Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and Solution Trains.
- Work with architects and Agile Teams to define and implement scalable solutions and minimize technology complexity.
- Provide architectural guidance to System and Solution Architects and ensure that development efforts align with the organization’s overall technology direction.
Rationalize the Technology Portfolio:
- Lead the rationalization of the technology portfolio to eliminate redundancy, reduce IT costs, and improve efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to simplify the technical landscape, reduce complexity, and lower the total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline procurement, review application portfolios, and ensure that existing technologies are optimized for current and future needs.
Foster Innovative Ideas and Technologies:
- Act as a technology thought leader by advocating for the adoption of emerging technologies such as Cloud, Big Data, AI, and machine learning to drive innovation.
- Define and promote architectural standards across the enterprise to ensure consistency and quality in the development process.
- Mentor Agile Teams to encourage technical excellence, model best practices, and support Continuous Delivery Pipeline (CDP) and DevOps capabilities.
Guide Enabler Epics and Architecture Initiatives:
- Lead Enabler Epics through the Portfolio Kanban, ensuring that architecture initiatives are executed in line with business priorities.
- Collaborate with Product and Solution Management, and System Architects to decompose epics into features and capabilities.
- Participate in key SAFe events, including PI Planning, System Demos, and solution design reviews.
Leadership and Mentoring and People Management:
- Act as a Lean-Agile leader within the organization, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to System Architects, Platform Engineers, and Agile Teams to enhance their technical and architectural capabilities.
- Manage architecture team including System Architects and Data Architect.
- Contribute to the development and adoption of the SAFe framework and promote the organization’s Lean-Agile mindset.
- Lead Community of Practice for architecture.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, SAFe) is a plus.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in enterprise architecture or related technology roles.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale enterprise architectures.
- Extensive experience with modern technologies, including Cloud, Big Data, AI, and Machine Learning.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Appian, and Insurance Policy Management systems.
- Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) principles and experience working with Agile teams.
- Strong understanding of architectural frameworks, system design, and IT governance.
- Expertise in architecture modeling tools and methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, enterprise systems, and technology infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of system integration, application design, security protocols, and data management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lead discussions and present complex architectural concepts in an understandable way.
- Ability to influence and drive change in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Strong mentorship and coaching abilities to guide teams toward technical excellence.
