Structural Field Engineer (Threshold Inspector)

NOVA Engineering & Environmental has an opening for a locally based
Threshold Inspector (Structural Field Engineer) for our Fort Lauderdale, FL office.

Job Responsibilities:


  • The Special (Threshold) Inspector Authorized Representative will perform structural steel reviews, including bolted and welded connections, CMU, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post tension cable, precast/prestress members, wood structures and cold-formed metals.
  • Ability to read/understand project plans and specifications.
  • Report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion.
  • Ensure that all test equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle.
  • Lawfully operate a motor vehicle. Maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, check fluid levels, inside/outside upkeep).
  • Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required. Cellular phones are to be worn at all times and calls are to be returned immediately.
  • Ensure that project requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements and company policies or procedures. Attend all technician meetings.

Required Qualifications:


  • Experience per F.A.C. 61G15-35.004
  • Licensed ICC Building Inspector or multiple ICC Special Inspector licenses (Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding & Bolting)
  • Also willing to hire a Civil/Construction Engineering graduate who has passed FE exam and 6+ months of experience with threshold inspection experience
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing - Level 1 

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with concrete, including ICC, PTI and ACI certifications a huge plus
  • PE license
