Full-timeDescriptionThe Senior Financial Planner is responsible for supporting (Sr.) Financial Advisor or Managing Director by maintaining biblical client relationships and obtaining, analyzing, and coordinating complex financial information to develop customized, integrated financial plans consistent with client needs. May also be responsible to provide team leadership, assist in training and developing team members, and acting as a subject matter expert to support teammates’ and advisors’ client service efforts as well as broader company-wide projects and initiatives.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Supports (Sr.) Financial Advisors and/or Managing Director by preparing customized financial plans in a manner that is tailored to the needs of the clients.
- Provides excellent service and technical support in the financial planning process to both clients and the (Sr.) Financial Advisor and/or Managing Director through maintaining client relationships in a manner consistent with company values and applied in-depth technical skills and expertise.
- Prepares customized financial plans and recommendations for delivery to the client.
- Develops high quality, accurate, attractive and professional reports and presentations that reflect and incorporate Blue Trust’s financial planning philosophy and principles into the client recommendations.
- Manages on-going coordination of client affairs, leading to transfer of day-to-day responsibility for managing the client relationship from the Advisor to the Sr. Financial Planner.
- Assesses gifting opportunities of cash, securities, or other property.
- Conducts tax planning to estimate tax withholding settings or quarterly tax payments, plans for cash, securities or other property gifting opportunities, bonus payments, and stock option planning.
- Exhibits technical knowledge and competency in cash flow planning and analysis (including bonus payments and stock option planning), tax and charitable gift planning, education funding, debt management, retirement, insurance, and estate planning.
2. Initiates investment transactions in accordance with instructions from the Advisor.
- Implements investment transactions utilizing company’s trading software.
- Performs other investment management tasks such as tax loss harvesting, account rebalancing, account review, and Quarterly Investment Report (QIR) generation.
3. Ensures readiness for and supports (Sr.) Financial Advisor or Managing Director with client meetings and other interactions including such things as:
- Ensures all materials and financial plans are in good order in advance of scheduled meeting.
- Records and follows up on key meeting takeaways.
- Utilizing solid professional business-writing skills, prepares follow-up letters and other correspondence for clients.
- Handles follow up on action items as appropriate.
- Appropriately manages multiple priorities and strives to support the relationship building and investment management activities of Advisors through applied technical skills and knowledge of the financial planning process, including plan delivery and on-going coordination of client affairs.
- Effectively responds to client and outside vendor inquiries or needs as required.
4. Strives to grow and develop appropriate skillset to enhance contribution to client relationships including such things as:
- Actively pursues additional professional designations or training to enhance financial planning or advisory skillset and knowledge.
- Seeks to continually increase knowledge of the financial planning philosophy and biblical principles upon which Blue Trust serves its client base through learning associated scripture memory verses to integrate Blue Trust’s philosophy into client counsel and services.
- Approaches work, interactions, and relationships in a manner consistent with the Company’s Core Values.
- Demonstrates competence in general business skills and pursues general mastery of appropriate technical and leadership skills to support team and client needs, as well as long-term career growth.
5. Provides training and support for Financial Planners within the Division and/or across the Company, lending experience and expertise to help others learn, grow, and achieve a level of competency in the Financial Planner role, including:
- Takes responsibility for mentoring Financial Planners, ensuring they understand the role and know how to access available tools and resources.
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert within Division or broader organization when needed.
- Serves on special committees and/or speaks into Company initiatives, as needed/requested.
- Shares best practices developed with others in Branch/division and/or with Financial Planning Practice Area.
- Documents and tests new procedures and systems and trains other Financial Planners in same to facilitate enhanced understanding and consistency within the Division and Company-wide.
- Leads by example, using technical knowledge and personal character to enhance the team’s ability to meet client needs, develop new client relationships, and support the company’s ability to accomplish its strategic objectives and mission.
6. Demonstrates computer literacy and knowledge of specialized office programs and competency in utilizing software applications (e.g. eMoney).7. Depending on career path, demonstrates a growing ability to create and seize business development opportunities while enhancing the company’s professional presence and image within their community and spheres of influence.
- Consistently seeks opportunities to obtain influence and develop persuasive skills by networking through small and large groups, one-on-one meetings, instructional opportunities, and speaking engagements in the context of professional organizations, community service organizations, churches, other community groups, etc.
- Understands the Company target market and can evaluate and identify potential referral sources and networks where new opportunities for business may be found.
- Understands available company resources and uses them appropriately to enhance visibility and understanding of the Company distinctives in the marketplace.
- Develops ability to perceive client or prospect needs and converse confidently, reflecting back what a client or prospect has conveyed and how Company can help them, while communicating a passion for what we do and looking for ways to enhance service to existing clients and bring Company counsel to new clients.
8. Works to acquire leadership skills which focus on client service and business development by seeking wisdom and counsel from others in leadership roles who model biblical servant leadership.9. Maintains the highest Compliance standards by adhering to the company's Human Resources guidelines, Compliance policies, professional designation standards, and our industry's regulatory standards to mitigate risk to the company.Requirements
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of those portions of both the old and new testaments of the Bible with scriptural references to money and finances, and an ability to apply and integrate this knowledge into all phases of client counsel.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Proven decision making and discernment.
- Demonstrated ability to serve clients and others with excellence.
- Self-starter and strong multitasker with ability to juggle multiple priorities and detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of industry terminology, products, and vehicles as well as regulatory environment.
- Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a high level of expertise in MS Excel and proven capability utilizing company’s industry-specific software.
- Personal integrity and the ability to discreetly handle confidential data.
- Understands and supports Company’s policies, core values and organizational goals exhibited by day-to-day business activities and interactions.
Education, Experience & Skills:
- Served with distinction in the Financial Planner role a minimum of 2-5 years demonstrating leadership and excellence in all key areas of responsibility.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, financial planning, or accounting is required.
- Successful record serving.
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations:
- Completion of the Certified Financial Planner® or other applicable professional designation strongly preferred.
- Additional education and credentials are a plus, such as MBA, the Certified Public Accountant designation or other.
Travel Requirements
- Travel demands depend upon client base in assigned territory and may include frequent travel by car, air, or other reasonable means of transportation, to ensure clients are served in a manner consistent with Division’s client service model.
