Wisk’s internship experience is a 12 week, hands-on program. Our goal for our internship program is to see what it’s like to be a full time Wisk employee and complete meaningful work.We are looking for a System Integration intern to join our Energy Storage and Power Distribution (ESPS) team for summer 2025. The goal of an ESPS System Integration Engineer at Wisk is to support the development of battery and power distribution systems. You will be part of the System Engineering, Integration and Testing team that manages requirements, integration and testing activities for the propulsion battery of our next-generation electrified aircraft.
Responsibilities:
- As part of the ESPS organization, and deployed in the System Engineering, Integration and Testing team you will act as a System Integration Engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical, Mechanical, Safety, and Certification to ensure system interfaces and designs meet all technical and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with requirements gathering, system modeling (MBSE), and trade studies to ensure system performance, reliability, and compliance with safety standards.
- Participate in testing and validation activities, including simulation-based analysis and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing of battery and power distribution components.
- Contribute to design reviews, system architecture documentation, and interface definitions for power systems.
- Support supplier coordination and integration activities, including reviewing supplier designs, managing technical specifications, and tracking component deliveries.
- Assist with program management tasks, including tracking development milestones, supporting project scheduling, and maintaining documentation for power and energy storage systems.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and status updates for internal stakeholders, including senior management and cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
- Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters or PhD degree with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027
- Preferred majors: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience or coursework in power systems, energy storage technologies, propulsion systems, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), or high-voltage power distribution is a plus.
- Hands-on experience integrating, testing and troubleshooting complex hardware products - preferably battery powered systems.
- Basic knowledge of program management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or similar) and an understanding of project tracking methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eagerness to learn and apply new techniques.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, as the role requires working in a multidisciplinary team.
- You have a safety-oriented mindset and have worked around hazardous equipment requiring advanced safety training.
- A passion for electrification, sustainable aviation, and energy storage technologies.
Hourly rate will be $25 USD an hour.This internship role will be based at Wisk's office in Mountain View, California and relocation or housing will not be provided.
