MECHANICAL DESIGNER- El Segundo, CA


As a Mechanical Designer you will be focused on refining 3D geometries and generating 2D drawings on an array of hardware - mechanisms, actuators, secondary structures, avionics boxes - in an effort to create parts and assemblies for our rapidly expanding portfolio of fixed wing and rotorcraft platforms. This includes prototypes and production designs. The role involves collaboration with a wide variety of teams, including the mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, flight test team, and quality assurance. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Generate robust 3D models to document designs - including prototype parts, production parts, and test fixtures
  • Produce fully dimensioned 2D drawings with proper GD&T 
  • Organize models and drawing in PDM system, along with updating a drawing tree to document the system architecture
  • Perform tolerance stack up analysis, and work with manufacturing and supply chain to minimize cost/schedule  
  • Develop fully integrated model system model  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering 
  • 7+ years of professional working experience in a full cycle Mechanical Drafter/Designer role 
  • Experience with part drawing submitted to the FAA
  • Experience with common aerospace materials, finishes, and processes
  • Experience designing test fixtures 
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stackup analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience in personally taking parts through final production release
  • 10+ years of professional working experience
  • High proficiency with Solidworks CAD
  • Experience with model integration
  • Experience with PDM systems
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design
