Our client, the
Regional Transit Authority (RTA), is hiring streetcar operators to support the operation of the QLINE Detroit. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team redefining public transit in Detroit by providing safe, reliable, and innovative mobility solutions.The QLINE is a 3.3-mile streetcar system connecting key neighborhoods and destinations along Woodward Avenue. Operated by the RTA, the QLINE is an essential part of Detroit's regional mobility system, offering equitable and accessible transportation for residents and visitors alike.
Position Overview:
As a Streetcar Operator, you will be responsible for streetcars' safe and efficient operation, ensuring compliance with all operational standards and delivering an exceptional experience for riders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate streetcars in revenue and non-revenue service, as well as within maintenance facilities, in accordance with the RTA's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Use approved communication systems, adhering to FCC regulations and radio protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain equipment safety.
- Report equipment malfunctions and observations to the maintenance team.
- Assist in the acceptance and commissioning of new streetcars and associated equipment.
- Complete all required reports accurately at the end of each shift.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- A valid Michigan Driver's License is required; a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.
- Clean driving history.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination, including random drug and alcohol screenings.
- Successful completion of the Streetcar Operator Training Program and certification (provided).
- Customer service experience preferred; transportation experience (streetcar, transit bus, or trucking) is a plus.
- Ability to make sound decisions in both routine and emergency situations.
