Position Summary
: The Capital Projects Planning Manager will report to the Project Services Director and be responsible for the overall evaluation and control of the assigned project schedules. You will be providing assurance and quality of project schedules for major international projects. You will guide and direct schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring of the planning/scheduling activities with minimal or no supervisory oversight. You will manage various schedules to ensure that work is completed as scheduled and identify schedule-associated trends for management attention and action.
In addition, you will support development of the monthly reports and to perform schedule assessments as requested.The candidate will be based at our corporate headquarters in Houston, TX. This will be a hybrid role working 4 days a week in the office, with Friday’s a work from home day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides for oversight of the development by engineering and construction partners of Master Project schedules in a portfolio environment.
- Implements assurance process on contractor-developed master project schedules.
- Takes a lead in preparing schedule data throughout the Project life cycle as requested.
- Verifies that the correct scope of work is reflected on assigned schedules.
- Integrates schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences.
- Reviews and assesses the work sequences within the total project plan.
- Establishes and implements methods for determining activity durations within each stage of the project taking into consideration overall scope and complexity.
- Reviews schedule data, identifies and acquires information needed to complete working logic to interface between assigned resources and/or projects.
- Develops specific project codes of accounts and work breakdown structures (WBS) and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions for new work items assigned.
- Determines critical-path activities for project and identifies requirements necessary for mitigation of any possible delays.
- Identifies, analyzes, and monitors schedule deviations for subcontractor submittals and recommends corrective action/work-around solutions for project considerations.
- Schedules/attends Project team meetings at regular intervals to ensure that overdue and/or upcoming activities are clear and recognized by the Project team.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate under the direction of the Sr. Project Engineering Director.
Education and Experience:
- B.S. degree highly preferred in a technical discipline, or in lieu of a degree, 10+ years' experience in Construction may be considered.
- 10 years of related work experience in planning and scheduling of both engineering and construction activities.
- Knowledgeable of current Primavera Enterprise Systems (P6) scheduling technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
- Proficient in all MS Office software including MS Project scheduling software.
- Proven ability to perform in a technical role, possess good written and oral communication skills, and have a thorough understanding of industry practices and regulations.
- Self-managing, proactive.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Oracle B.I.
- Primavera certification.
- Capital Project experience.
- EPC contractor experience, Multiple projects and managing contractors
