CPower is based in Baltimore, MD., and is owned by LS Power, a development, investment and operating company focused on the power and energy infrastructure sector.We are looking for a Data Engineer who will bring a strong background in software development and data engineering and passion for building scalable data solutions.

This role is an instrumental part of our cross-functional team which designs, develops, and implements ETL processes, data pipelines, and data models to support our data initiatives.

This is a position for candidates located in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area with a preference for those able to report to our Baltimore office at least a few times a month. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain a robust infrastructure and software architecture for data processing.
  • Design, develop and implement scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data ingestion, integration, and transformation, including workload and data management.
  • Implement and optimize data models to ensure efficient data curation, storage, and retrieval.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing robust testing and validation procedures.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and infrastructure to proactively identify and resolve issues and to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to understand data requirements and transform raw data into data products that drive valuable insights.
  • Work with stakeholders including technical, product, business, and executive teams to assist with data related technical issues.
  • Integrate models and data science solutions into the data layer and associated technologies.
  • Stay up to date on emerging data engineering technologies and best practices to continuously improve our data solutions.

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.  
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development and data engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python, R, or KustaQuery Language.
  • Experience with Azure cloud-based data infrastructure and services, with a preference for Azure experience. 
  • Experience with data modeling, data pipelines, data warehousing solutions and ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems such as Azure DevOps.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (preferred experience with SQL Server and Oracle).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team player with ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with machine learning and data science tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
  • Experience with real-time data processing and stream processing technologies.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Hadoop, Apache Spark, etc.
  • Certifications in data engineering, data analytics or data science from reputable organizations.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
