We are looking for a dynamic and highly energetic individual to join our team as an Energy Engineer. The Energy Engineer will support program implementation for Georgia Power’s commercial energy efficiency programs. This individual will be a critical member of the team and will utilize a unique combination of interpersonal and analytical skills to be successful. This position involves exercising a high level of creativity and autonomy, as well as the ability to work successfully within a team environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical assistance and guidance on energy efficient technologies and practices to companies participating in Georgia Power’s sponsored programs
- Conduct on-site energy assessments and analyze the energy performance of commercial buildings to determine cost-effective energy efficiency upgrades
- Interact with building managers to motivate them to implement energy efficiency upgrades in existing buildings
- Prepare and review technical specifications and engineering calculations for commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects
- Conduct site inspections to verify installation and operation of energy efficiency equipment
- Coordinate with other team members and clients to develop strategies to influence the market and increase participation in programs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Energy Resource. Master’s degree is highly preferred.
- Certified Energy Manager or Certified Lighting Professional
- Minimum of six (6) years of energy efficiency or equivalent trade experience (electrical or HVAC contracting)
- Demonstrated knowledge of lighting, motors, and HVAC systems
- Knowledge of energy code standards (IECC, ASHRAE, etc.)
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience with energy auditing and knowledge of energy modeling (Trane Trace, eQuest, Energy Plus, HAP, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills and client service orientation. Ability to connect quickly with others and establish rapport
- Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective listening and probing skills
- Professional presentation and demeanor
- Ability to work effectively as an independent contributor and in a team environment. Ability to successfully work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
- Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
- Self-starter and highly motivated to excel
- Ability to travel to client locations as needed
