We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to lead our finance operations in Croatia. This pivotal role is our first finance hire outside of the US and will be responsible for internalizing Croatian accounting functions, improving and modernizing processes, and aligning our international subsidiaries with US accounting practices. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in building a local finance team, supporting both Croatian operations and acting as a shared service center for our US operations.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting functions in Croatia, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Internalize Croatian accounting processes previously handled externally.
- Align Croatian accounting practices with US systems for a uniform global month-end close.
- Prepare financial statements and manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support US operations with billing, collections, accounts payable, and expenses.
- Build, train, and lead a local accounting team to handle accounting for the Croatian entity and support shared accounting services for US operations.
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, including automation and AI tools.
- Handle payroll processing, tax filings, and compliance-related matters.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support.
- Communicate effectively across different cultures and organizational levels
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a high-growth or multinational company, with at least 2 in a people management role
- Strong understanding of Croatian accounting principles and regulations.
- Experience with international accounting, consolidations and providing shared services to international operations is a plus
- Proficiency in accounting software; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to implement and utilize modern accounting tools and automation.
- Proven experience in building and managing teams.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Croatian.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and self-motivation.
