Location: UTEX Conroe, TX
Position Summary / Objective:
The CAD Drafter will be responsible for creating and modifying detailed technical drawings and designs used in the manufacturing of products. This role requires close collaboration with engineers, production teams, and quality control to ensure precision and adherence to specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings, models, and schematics based on project specifications.
- Interpret technical documentation, such as blueprints and schematics, to produce accurate designs for manufacturing.
- Modify and update existing designs to incorporate design changes and improve manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and feasible for manufacturing processes.
- Perform calculations and verify dimensions to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Maintain organized records of all drawings, revisions, and design documentation.
- Assist in developing design standards and templates to streamline drafting processes.
- Troubleshoot design issues and recommend solutions to improve product quality and reduce manufacturing costs.
Essential functions:
- Create 3D CAD models for products to meet customer requirements and specifications.
- Create product assembly drawings, 2D part drawings from 3D models.
- Develop parts lists and bills of materials in the company’s MRP system.
- Maintain drawing files and revision control.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Provide ongoing support to Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and Nonconformance reports (NCRs) using standard procedures.
Requirements
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks preferably).
- Knowledge of design and engineering needs.
- Understanding of how to accurately represent designs in technical drawings.
- Ability to multitask with different priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of CAD and drafting experience.
- Preferably qualified for a Diploma or better in an engineering discipline.
Work Environment:
- Office setting with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor.
- Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during factory visits.
Physical Demands
- Moderate walking and climbing
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; and stoop
- Occasional time spent on the floor in a non-climate-controlled environment may be required.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday.Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
