Shop Manager/Technician

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Shop Manager/Technician to oversee and streamline the daily operations of our shop. Simbe’s Shop Manager/Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly shop environment, keeping inventory of components used for R&D and testing, and assisting with assembly/installation of R&D projects. This position will report to the Staff Mechanical Engineer. 

Responsibilities


  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
  • Oversee inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining adequate stock levels
  • Assembling prototype hardware and providing assembly process feedback for engineering teams
  • Performing hands-on diagnostics and repairs of assemblies/subassemblies
  • Install and/or replace components in existing Tally robots
  • Follow SOPs to set up hardware and test hardware
  • Maintain and troubleshoot shop equipment to ensure continuous operation
  • Assist with shipping and receiving
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • 4+ years of relevant experience as a technician or shop manager
  • Proficient in electronics soldering/desoldering, and cable harness assemblies
  • Experience assembling test fixtures and prototype hardware in a testing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Provide feedback on prototype assembly process to inform design changes
  • Strong inventory management skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to stand up to 8 hours a day
  • The job may require the ability to climb, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch

Bonus Qualifications


  • Previous experience working in robotics or similar industry
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Sanding/painting experience

$25 - $30 an hourHourly pay is dependent on experience and location.
