About The Position
Intuitive Machines is seeking a Quality Inspection Technician to join our team. This position will support the production and manufacturing of aerospace components for our Lunar Lander and other relevant hardware for our upcoming IM3 and IM4 missions and beyond. The ideal candidate will possess Dimensional Inspection expertise on specialized space parts and hardware. This role is crucial in ensuring the structural integrity and precision of components designed for space missions.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements
- Work with Engineers to communicate needs, tolerances, and timeline
- Programming, running and maintaining Zeiss Contura CMM
- Developing a plan of action to measure parts according to specifications
- Improve and develop existing and new procedures and documentation to support the Inspection process.
- Setting up equipment and fixturing required to complete each step of the inspection plan
- Operating equipment to carry out each step correctly
- Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise
- Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field – high school diploma or GED is also applicable with years of experience
- 5+ years of experience programming and operating CNC machines,
- Experience with CMM Inspection equipment, Z-Height tooling and other calibrated measurement tools.
- Proficiency with design software: CREO, SolidWorks, Fusion 360
- Knowledge of how to operate the Zeiss CMM with Calypso software.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective Inspection plans based on specifications and drawings
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the measuring process
- Ability to move roughly 50 to 75 pounds and remain at your workstation throughout the day
- Understanding of health and safety regulations to reduce the risk of workplace accidents
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with the use of work orders, drawings and solid models.
- Familiarity with standard practices for measuring any number of parts from a variety of materials with drawings GD&T and Model Based Dimensioning (MBD).
- Previous work experience within the aerospace or defense industry
- Familiarity with commonly used space and commercial specifications for materials, processes, fasteners, mechanical components, connectors, wiring, etc.
