Somethings is on a mission to end the youth mental health crisis by reducing the suicide rate for teens back to 2008 levels of 6.8 per 100,000 (1) for the 42 Million teens in the U.S.To combat this, we are creating the first scaled network of Certified Peer Specialists and building the most engaging mental health experience in the world for teenagers. We’ve found deep resonance with Medicaid Managed Care Organizations and State Health Agencies and we’re scaling to quickly towards serving hundreds of thousands of teens.
Role Overview:
As our Head of Payer Partnerships, you will be the driving force behind Somethings’ expansion into new Medicaid markets through MCO partnerships over the next 3-5 years. We are looking for someone who wants to go big and scale a digital health platform nationwide rapidly to meet the insane demand we’ve seen for our product.You’re a fit for this role if you’ve been a key leader in a fast-scaling digital health company working with Medicaid and commercial payers. You're a fit if your friends and family go to your for advice and admire your empathy, you're a charismatic communicator who loves storytelling and you’re deeply passionate about youth mental health and excited to make an enormous impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategies for entering new Medicaid markets.
- Generate Leads and opportunities through outreach, conferences, and other creative strategies.
- Maintain and nurture a strong pipeline of partnerships with Medicaid and commercial health plans.
- Drive contracting efforts and navigate the complexities of payer negotiations.
- Lead market discovery and iterate strategies for optimal market fit.
- Innovate creative, top-down approaches to market entry and scaling.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a senior leader in a scaling digital health company.
- Demonstrated success in selling to Medicaid and commercial payers.
- Expertise in contracting processes and payer relationships.
- Strong skills in market selection, discovery, and expansion strategy.
- Exceptional communication, charisma, and empathy.

- Teen mental health still remains a massive issue. Nearly 40% of teens in the U.S. still struggle with a mental health concern, 20% have had a major depressive episode in the last year, and 10% have attempted suicide in the last year.
- As of January 2025, Peers are now included in FUH and FUM HEDIS measures.
- SAMHSA released revised guidance around EPSDT and continued to encourage states to utilized Peer Supporters.
- Renewed MHPEA reaffirmed the requirements for states and plans to provide adequate mental health services.
