Role Overview:
The Risk Manager will lead and oversee the risk management strategies for the Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) Project to ensure the identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of risks across all project phases. This role focuses on implementing best practices in risk management, ensuring compliance with local and international standards, and maintaining project sustainability and resilience. Reporting to the Construction Director, the Risk Manager plays a pivotal role in achieving project objectives and minimizing potential disruptions.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Management Framework:• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management plan aligned with project goals.• Establish methodologies for risk identification, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring.• Integrate risk management processes into project planning and execution phases.Risk Identification and Mitigation:• Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify operational, financial, and strategic risks.• Evaluate risk severity and prioritize based on likelihood and impact.• Implement mitigation strategies to address identified risks and reduce potential impacts.Compliance and Reporting:• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international risk management standards and regulations.• Prepare and present regular risk assessment and mitigation progress reports to stakeholders.• Maintain an updated risk register and ensure transparent communication with project teams.Performance Monitoring and Improvement:• Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.• Conduct periodic reviews of risk management processes to identify areas for improvement.• Ensure real-time monitoring and management of emerging risks.Training and Capacity Building:• Provide training and support to project teams on risk awareness and management practices.• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and risk accountability within the organization.Stakeholder Engagement:• Collaborate with contractors, project teams, and external stakeholders to address risk- related concerns.• Build strong communication channels to facilitate proactive risk management.Environmental and Sustainability Focus:• Promote risk management practices that align with environmental and sustainability objectives.• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations to minimize the project’s ecological impact.
Experience and Skills Required
Experience:• Bachelor of Science (BSc) with over 15 years of relevant design and supervision experience in large-scale water infrastructure projects, OR• Master of Science (MSc) with over 12 years of relevant design and supervision experience in large-scale water infrastructure projects.• Degree from Recognised University.• Membership of chartered institutions.• Proven expertise in implementing risk management frameworks and processes in complex environments.Skills:• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.• Proficiency in risk management software and tools.• Comprehensive knowledge of local and international risk management standards and practices.Preferred Qualifications:• Expertise in crisis management and business continuity planning.• Membership in professional risk management bodies, such as PMI-RMP or IRM.
