The Lab Technologist IV will process and analyze patient samples, monitor QC, ensure all instruments are maintained properly, and enter patient results in their department. Must have experience and training in department of interest. Position may require Lab Tech IV to conduct training for new employees. Works closely with departmental Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor to maintain effective workflow of the department. Must meet regulatory compliance standards.
Technical
- Must have read and follow Departmental SOPs
- Demonstrates proficiency in the performance, interpretation and the troubleshooting of assays.
- Demonstrates proficiency in judging acceptability of quality control results.
- Participates in internal and external proficiency testing.
- Review performed work for accuracy prior to releasing to clients.
- Communicates sample issues within and outside the department to support proper client communication.
- Assists in evaluation and development of new procedures.
Other
- Achieve training goals as established by Human Resources.
- Assist the supervisor and assistant supervisor in the daily operation of the department.
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing maintenance on equipment in the department.
- Works closely with other departmental personnel and Product Development Department.
- Assists the supervisor/assistant supervisor in maintaining adequate supplies in the department.
- Participates in the training of new employees.
- Assist the Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor in maintaining year round inspection readiness.
- Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Applies Genova value statements and Quality Principles to their work.
- Assists in research projects as needed.
Shift Supervisory Responsibilities as assigned:
- Act as primary point of contact for all laboratory employees working on respective shift.
- Act as the first point of contact during emergencies on respective shift.
- Act as point of contact for lab director and supervisor inquiry.
- Ensure visitors follow appropriate check-in procedures during respective shift.
Maintain good safety practices in all departmentsThis position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a Biological or Chemical Science from an accredited institution, or a degree in Medical Technology. This position requires a minimum clinical laboratory work experience post completion of the relevant degree as follows:
- If MS degree must have 4 years of subsequent clinical laboratory training or experience, 2 years of which are in area of supervision
- If MT degree must have 6 years of subsequent clinical laboratory training or experience, 2 years of which are in area of supervision
- If BS degree must have 7 years of subsequent clinical laboratory training or experience, 2 years of which are in area of supervision
