Job Summary:
The Attorney - Manager should have a strong background in estate planning and people management. As a Manager at Mercer Advisors, you will act as a mentor and role model for the entire estate planning team. You will provide support and accountability to your direct reports, while leading by example as a player-coach.
Essential Job Functions for this role include:
Management:· Supervising team of estate planning strategists to ensure they are performing pursuant to key metrics; as well as following best practices for group, client, and advisor interaction, as established by the head of the department· Addressing feedback from clients and wealth management teams with a focus on improving overall and future experiences· Developing and building internal resources to assist strategists, estate planning specialists, and estate planning service specialists in tasks· Handling all time off requests and expense reports for direct reports· Recruiting, training, and onboarding new strategistsClient and Advisor Services:· Meeting with wealth advisors/financial planners/other wealth management and members of the Wealth Solutions group to review, fund, and maintain estate plans· Reviewing and summarizing existing estate planning documents, including making appropriate recommendations regarding changes and additions based upon changes in law and family circumstances· Answering general informational estate planning questions from clients and advisor teams· Serving as an in-house resource in estate planning to wealth management teams nationwide· Remaining current with related estate, trust, and tax legislation nationwide· Support business development through leading presentations, thought leadership publications, and prospective client meetings, as necessary· Management of a service specialist, as assigned, as related to overseeing day-to-day tasks, training, calendars, time management, coaching, and mentoring· Other duties, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Juris Doctor (JD)· Licensed to practice law in at least one state. Desire and ability to become licensed in multiple states· Ability to convey complex estate planning topics to clients and advisors· 3-5 years legal experience· 1 year management experience· Strong business acumen and ability to carry out initiatives outlined by the estate planning leader· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leaders.· Have a “can do” positive attitude while working well as part of a large team· Ability to travel up to 25%
Work Schedule:
This professional role requires availability during standard business hours of Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM. At times, the role may have early or late hours to meet business tasks and deadlines for external and internal client needs. All roles classified as a non-exempt are required to record working time into the timekeeping system daily at the start and end of each workday plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
Salary:
Average annual salary range for this position across our locations is: $115,000 to $125,000. Actual base pay within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills and licenses/certifications. This position is also eligible to earn incentive compensation through one of Mercer Advisors’ incentive compensation programs.
Working Conditions:
This position may be in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace which is free of interruptions. Whether position is in a dedicated office space or home office workspace, basic technology needs will be provided to satisfy position requirements. Routinely sitting and standing for periods of time. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs.
