The Human Resources Compliance Specialist will oversee employment-related compliance activities for our global organization. This role will be responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including but not limited to FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEOC, ERISA, and HIPAA. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HR principles, excellent writing and analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Compliance Oversight:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures that comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of HR systems, processes, and documentation to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Monitor and interpret changes in employment laws and regulations, ensuring timely updates to company policies and practices.
- Advise HR team members and management on compliance matters, providing guidance and support on a range of issues, including but not limited to employee relations,
- leave management, and discrimination.
Policy Development and Management:
- Draft, revise, and maintain employee handbooks, policies, and other HR-related documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance.
- Manage the version control and distribution of all HR policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain data standards for employment records to ensure accurate workforce demographics reporting and compliance with legal/regulatory requirements.
Internal Audits and Investigations:
- Conduct internal audits of HR systems and records, including data integrity checks and compliance reviews.
- Investigate employee relations issues and conduct thorough investigations as needed, ensuring objectivity and fairness.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies, such as the EEOC and DOL.
- Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies and legal counsel regarding employment-related matters.
- Conduct research and maintain a current knowledge base of relevant employment laws and regulations.
Training and Communication:
- Develop and deliver training programs to HR team members and managers on relevant compliance topics.
- Communicate compliance requirements and best practices to all levels of the organization.
HR Business Partner:
- Provide guidance and support to business leaders and employees on a range of HR related issues
- Partner with business leaders to identify and address employee concerns
- Provide support for organization change management initiatives
- Assist with the implementation of HR programs and initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources role with a strong emphasis on compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of US employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEOC, ERISA, and HIPAA.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Strong work ethic with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
