Kapwing is a cloud based video editing software tool that is now helping creators and businesses globalize their content with machine translation, voice cloning, and text to speech generation.
As a Senior Engineer, you will play an instrumental role in architecting and implementing our technology, improving our tech stack, and keeping an ear close to emerging AI vendors. This role is full-time in Kapwing's San Francisco HQ. We have a hybrid culture with 3 onsite days each week. Unfortunately, we currently do not sponsor visas and require candidates to have work authorization in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and launch full-stack features (React, Node, Express, and Python).
- Test new features, monitor releases, and take calculated risks.
- Work with product managers and QA and own product/feature rollout.
- Investigate and prototype new technologies and build applications on top of ML-powered and generative AI APIs.
- Create a culture of engineering excellence by refining our processes, documentation, and cross-functional systems.
- Collaborate with, mentor, and teach other engineers
Requirements
- 4-8 years of production-level software engineering experience
- Comfortable with React, Javascript, Typescript, Node, and Python
- Strong knowledge of best engineering practices and write maintainable scalable code
- Experience prototyping and building new products from scratch
- Can evaluate, configure, and incorporate new web technology.
- Experience with monitoring systems like Sentry, Papertrail, Heroku, etc
- Work authorization in the USA
Bonus skills
- Experience with video engineering (FFMPEG, machine vision, video players, ImageMagik, etc)
- Experience with Mongo, Github CI, A/B testing
- Bilingual or multilingual

Compensation: $180,000 - $225,000
