Role: 


The Automation Engineer at Card Kingdom is responsible for designing, building, enhancing, and maintaining automated systems. You are a passionate problem solver who comes up with innovative ideas for building automated solutions. You are proactive and demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment whilst communicating effectively with teams and individuals across multiple lines of business. In this role you may be hands-on in the installation of an automated system, designing something new or making sure that all machines are operating correctly.

If a machine breaks or there is a problem, the automation engineer is responsible for identifying a fix and carrying out the repair or partnering with an outside vendor to resolve the issue.

Responsibilities:


  • Work with project teams to move existing and pending automated systems from prototype to production
  • Design/fabricate/install upgrades and enhancements needed to build new systems or make existing automated machines safe and production ready 
  • Partner with outside vendors when appropriate to understand capabilities and integration of components associated with the automation systems 
  • Establish robust operating and installation instructions that allow the reproducibility of current automated machines 
  • Create and execute maintenance plans for existing and future automated equipment 
  • Conduct benchmarking and baseline tests to establish machine capabilities, set specification limits and calibration standards 
  • Role requires hands on fabrication, cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed 
  • Must be able to turn user requirements into automated solution designs 
  • Identification of new opportunities for automation within the manufacturing process 
  • Writing reports and making presentations for senior leaders outlining new concepts, testing outcomes, and ongoing efficiency enhancements 
  • Be the expert on industry trends and emerging automation technology 
  • Train staff to use the machines, ensuring safety regulations are met and up to date as well as troubleshooting problems
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with key stakeholders in support of reporting and analysis. 

Qualifications:


  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar engineering degree or equivalent work experience. A degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3+ years designing and building automated hardware systems 
  • Proficient in Design/Drafting Tools such as SolidWorks 
  • Proficient designing/testing basic electronics (fabrication, wiring, multi-meters, basic circuit design) 
  • Familiar with Vision Systems, PLCs, HMIs (e.g. Cognex, Keyence, Siemens, Fanuc, etc.) 
  • Hands on experience with various motors, drives, pneumatics, remote I/O and actuators 
  • Solid understanding of software programming (PLC development, Ladder Logic, Python, .net) 
  • Experience and skill in troubleshooting hardware, electronics, software and control system issues 
  • Consistently think of ways to improve our products and the business 
  • Strong communicator, comfortable presenting your ideas and findings 
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to think designs through completely 
  • Strong technological, analytical and communication skills 
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50lbs occasionally 
  • Willing to cover weekend on-call shifts occasionally

  • Full Time 
  • Exempt/Salary: Range from $84,000 – $95,800 depending on qualifications and experience
