The Role:
We seek an Android Engineer with +5 years of experience to help us continue delivering the best-in-class HER app experience. You’ll work closely with our Android Lead, the wider engineering team and Product to design and ship features that delight our users and support our business goals, such as analytics, data tracking, and more.We’re a small, agile team using a modern tech stack. Our app is written in Kotlin with minimal Java and consumes a Go backend hosted on AWS. As a member of this team, you’ll have the opportunity to grow and make a lasting impact on our users worldwide.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate to design, build, release, and maintain the HER Android app, taking ownership of your work.
- Write clean, efficient, and reusable code that’s elegant and performant.
- Develop new features from the ground up (we love creating exciting new things!)
- Maintain and improve legacy parts of the application.
- Identify and resolve bugs and performance issues to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Drive improvements in code quality, maintainability, tooling, and automation.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Android development best practices, including APIs, SDKs, and libraries.
- Ability to translate business requirements into maintainable, efficient, and timely code.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in developing and architecting UI and user journeys for Android apps.
- MVVM, coroutines, Flow, Clean Architecture
- MVP, RxJava, XML views
- Solid understanding of algorithms, memory management, object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, concurrency, and real-time communication.
- Expertise in Kotlin.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A passion for creating safe, inclusive spaces for sapphic users online.
- Familiarity with modern testing methodologies and tools.
Desired/Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Experience with iOS (Swift) or Go.
- Familiarity with tools like Graylog, ElasticSearch, DataDog, and gRPC.
Compensation Range: $55K - $60K
