CONTROL SYSTEM ENGINEER (PLC CONSULTANT)


We are seeking an extremely reliable and flexible Control System Engineer with expertise in programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to join our team as a consultant, full-time, for 5-6 months. This role is for contractors only (W2 or 1099).

  • Implementation and maintenance of control systems used in manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborating with our partners to ensure efficient and reliable operation of control systems.
  • This is a critical role that directly impacts the production processes and quality of products.

Key Responsibilities


  • Programming and Configuration: Write, test, and debug PLC programs using industry-standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text). Configure PLC hardware and software components, such as input/output modules, communication protocols, and HMI interfaces.
  • System Integration: Integrate PLC systems with other control devices, such as HMIs, SCADA systems, motor drives, and sensors, to ensure seamless communication and synchronization across the entire control system.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify and resolve control system issues by conducting root cause analysis, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, and implementing corrective actions. Perform regular system maintenance, including software updates, backups, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery within defined timelines and budgets.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure control systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations. Implement safety measures and design systems with robust fail-safe mechanisms to protect personnel and equipment.

Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) working as a Control System Engineer with a focus on PLC-based systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, PLC programming, and automation principles.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in PLC systems, such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram.
  • Experience with PLC hardware and software platforms, such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
  • Familiarity with HMI development tools and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus) and networking concepts.
  • Solid understanding of electrical schematics, motor control circuits, and industrial sensors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements is a plus.
  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Automation Professional (CAP), are advantageous.

As a Control System Engineer (PLC Consultant), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of manufacturing processes.
