Settlement Agent


Shore United Bank is seeking a full-time
Settlement Agent/Processor to join our Mid-Maryland Title team. Mid-Maryland Title Company, Inc, an affiliate of Shore United Bank, is a real estate title company specializing in residential and commercial real estate settlements throughout Maryland. The Settlement Agent/Processor will process title closing files and works closely with buyers, sellers, lenders and real estate agents to ensure that the title file is processed correctly and ready to close on contract closing date. The Agent/Processor should have experience with commercial and residential processing with a strong emphasis on Commercial Settlement processing, closing, disbursing, document recordation and policy preparation.

Essential Functions Include:


  • Senior Processor completes ordering and review of all documents necessary to process a contract or lender title order file for example (not an exhaustive list), title abstracts, payoffs, HOA statements, Condominium resale statements, tax statements, contract addenda, loan closing documents, closing instructions. Also, documents funding wires from lenders and buyers, sending wires out to brokerages, sellers and lenders, preparing recording packages and working with rejected recordings to ensure timely submission for recordings, working with law firms representing commercial buyers, sellers and borrowers, paying taxes on real estate closing files when necessary. Balancing the file with the lender, distributes the ALTA and Closing Disclosures to buyers, sellers, lenders, loan officers, real estate agents for review and approval prior to closing. Produces computer generated closing checks. Post closing work as needed.
  • Daily Responsibilities: Review abstracts, prepare title commitments and binders, payoff letters, ALTA, CD’s and closing instructions for accuracy; balance files, prepare deeds and documents for closing, answer the phone as needed, cover absent employees if needed, work on uncleared/lost checks related to closings, work with Title Express Software, Green Folders Software, Word, Email, make bank deposits, send wires, receive wires; risk mitigation quotes title insurance rates.
  • Periodic Responsibilities (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.): Annually send 1099’s, work with Title Express on software upgrades and periodic client relations luncheons and other client relationship building activities. Periodically conducts settlements if needed.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g., Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.
  • Participates in required training sessions, including training for compliance with BSA/AML policies and procedures.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:


  • Full-time.
  • Non-exempt.
  • Days of Work: Monday-Friday.

Required Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred. 
  • 5 years’ experience as full charge processor in high volume title company preferred.
  • Must possesses Maryland and Virginia Title Insurance Producer License
  • Must be a certified Notary Public
  • Title Express experience required

Compensation:


  • The pay range for this position is $30.00 to $41.20 hourly.
  • Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.
