Qualified candidates are expected to have a working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, the jQuery library, PHP, and the WordPress CMS. Leveraging your solid understanding of user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design, you will create repeatable code and build high-quality UI content with scalability in mind. You will also be responsible for implementing new functionality in the WordPress environment, creating custom web pages, handling the integration of third-party and custom plugins, child theme concepts and functionality, and performing routine maintenance and performance optimizations.

What will you do?


  • Collaborate with designers to transform UI/UX wireframes into front-end code with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/ jQuery within the WordPress CMS 
  • Write high-quality, scalable, and repeatable code
  • Optimize Web properties for maximum speed and scalability
  • Develop and maintain responsive, cross-browser compatible webpages using the WordPress CMS
  • Ensure high-quality graphic standards and brand consistency
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in front-end codebases; perform routine performance optimizations
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to our development best practices
  • Build web applications with web development best practices
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical requirements or UX design 
  • Work with SEO analyst to optimize web pages with technical best practices
  • On-site search implementation and optimization
  • Work with back-end developers to integrate UI components with APIs and databases

What will you bring?


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or applicable experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in front-end development
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX/responsive design principles
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices, including on-page and technical SEO
  • Familiarity with version control systems 
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues and solutions
  • Prior experience working in an Agile/SCRUM environment
  • Experience with JavaScript libraries such jQuery
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate applications with 3rd party services
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends

$90,000 - $110,000 a yearThe above salary range represents Smarsh's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting. Any applicable bonus programs will be discussed during the recruiting process. The salary for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, location, specialty and training. Local cost of living assessments are done for each new hire at the time of offer.
