Description of Task to be Performed:
AnaVation is looking for a talented Senior Technical Writer. The ideal candidate has the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, eye-pleasing, and reader-friendly documentation. This role is critical in setting documentation standards to produce high-quality content that supports the team’s technical and operational needs. This position is on-site work in Hanover, Maryland.
Position Responsibilities:
Documentation Development:· Create, edit, and maintain a wide range of documentation, including reports, SOPs/TTPs, system requirements documentation, technical solution whitepapers, and operational briefings.· Translate technical information into understandable content for diverse audiences.· Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather technical information for inclusion in documentation.Documentation Standards and Quality Assurance· Develop and enforce documentation standards, ensuring consistency and usability across all materials.· Establish style guides and templates.· Review and proofread documentation before distribution for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to established standards.· Implement feedback mechanisms to continuously improve the quality and relevance of documentation.Document Control· Ensure version management practices are implemented to ensure up-to-date and accurate documentation, team collaboration, efficiency, and quality.
· Organize and maintain a centralized repository for all documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Clearance: U.S. Citizen, active Secret and clearable to Top Secret
- Location: Hanover, MD
- Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Experience and knowledge:
- 8+ years of experience with technical writing, technical editing, document control and knowledge management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Products, including styles, templates, and forms.
- Experience with training others on document multi-editing, reviewing, approval, and version control through formal release/publication.
- Demonstrated experience in working in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work until the task is done to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clearance: Top Secret
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in English, technical writing, or communications
- Experience and Knowledge:
- 8+ years’ experience as a technical writer in a technology-focused environment.
- Demonstrated experience in writing technical documents for software development projects
- Technical background in computer science or related field
- Experience as a copywriter
- Experience using AI to improve efficiency, clarity, and accuracy of documents.
