Summary:


The Field Applications Scientist (FAS) is a dedicated customer-facing role with responsibility for providing scientific application support for new and existing Bionano customers. The FAS will train customers on system operation and provide ongoing scientific support in the field to system users. This role will interface with a broad range of internal technical and business personnel to deliver successful results to existing and potential customers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide onsite customer training for Bionano products (DNA isolation, DNA labeling, instrument operation and data analysis).
  • Assist customers in designing and conducting experiments to initiate and validate the use of Bionano products in their laboratories.
  • Assess customer experimental needs and provide technical and applications assistance on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide application specific data analysis training including finding candidate disease related structural variations.
  • Timely and effective problem solving with focus on customer success and satisfaction.
  • Deliver technical seminars to drive awareness and education about Bionano products.
  • Keep current on scientific and industry knowledge to provide best-in-class support and service to customer base.
  • Provides key feedback to internal marketing and technical teams on user adoption, challenges, and competitive activity in the field.
  • Provide timely flow of business and technical updates to and from Bionano.
  • Accurate and timely communication of customer feedback using Bionano Genomics’ complaint tracking system.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:


  • Skilled in wetlab techniques such as DNA isolation.
  • Excellent computer literacy and data analysis skills from a variety of data sources.
  • 2-3 years previous experience in a direct external customer support role in the Life Sciences industry.
  • Practical experience and/or in-depth knowledge of sequencing and genomics methods.
  • Ability to understand human genomic data for cancer and genetic disease studies.
  • Experience in leading activities across various functions.
  • English and Spanish speaker.

 Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills with the ability to quickly move on requirements for addressing customer needs.
  • Timely and effective problem-solving skills with focus on customer success and satisfaction.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 50% to 75%
  • Must be located in Spain with easy access to a major airport.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Independent worker that can provide frequent and thorough updates on their customers’ needs.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Masters or PhD degree in biological sciences with minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field.
