So, what’s the role?
Kin Insurance is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to develop and maintain scalable automation solutions that drive efficiency across our organization. In this role, you'll work on complex internal and external applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Data, Software Engineering, DevOps, Product, QA, and Claims. As a senior team member, you’ll provide technical leadership, contribute to solution architecture, and mentor other engineers while advancing your own career.
A day in the life could include:
- Investigating business challenges and designing technical implementation plans for scalable solutions.
- Building and maintaining front-end applications using low-code platforms.
- Developing backend automated workflows with low-code workflow builders.
- Managing database structures in PostgreSQL to support applications and workflows.
- Integrating third-party APIs to centralize data capture and interaction.
- Mentoring and coaching team members to enhance technical skills.
- Leading working sessions to resolve development roadblocks and technical challenges.
- Keeping up with new features in relevant tools and sharing knowledge with the team.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement automation solutions.
- Serving as a subject matter expert and providing technical support across the organization.
I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or analytics engineering.
- Expertise in Retool or similar low-code development tools.
- Advanced SQL proficiency (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Strong JavaScript experience (both front-end and backend).
- Ability to translate business needs into actionable technical development plans.
- Experience integrating multiple APIs within workflows or applications.
- Self-starter with a proven ability to manage business-critical processes and identify efficiency improvements.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with AWS Lambda or comparable serverless computing tools.
- Familiarity with Databricks or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of DMS (Database Migration Services).
- Experience integrating with CRM and customer communication tools like Kustomer, Regal, and Customer.io.
- Background in the insurance industry.
