Position Overview:


Inseego is seeking a Principal New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer with outstanding problem-solving capability, accountability with the ability to operate as a hands-on leader. The successful candidate will be directly involved and responsible for all NPI programs, including design-for-producibility and product transitions, from design to mass production release. The candidate will also be a part of the NPI core team, working closely with every functional area of the company, including R&D, Quality, Compliance, SW/ FW, Program and Product Management, Marketing and Sales, Information Technology and our global supply base including interaction with our CM and ODM partners.Responsibilities:

  • Core members of NPI team involved from concept to mass production and sustainment of product throughout its life cycle.
  • Drive release of BOMs and materials readiness assuring clear-to-build status for all EVT/PVT/DVT milestones and sustaining activities. 
  • In close collaboration with R&D / Development and Manufacturing Engineering, evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by designing and researching best practices.
  • Engage with design and development engineering during the design cycle to ensure design for manufacturability, tooling, process and test planning to ensure efficient production processes.
  • Ensure that manufacturing partners and their capabilities are aligned with evolving product concepts and designs and take early action to support successful new product launches.
  • Drive alignment of the manufacturing supply chain to the Quality Management System. 
  • Perform qualification tasks and capability development activities for contract manufacturing operations and processes.  
  • Coordinate manufacturing startup with suppliers to ensure all components and final assemblies achieve critical quality and performance specifications.
  • Achieve product profitability goals by completing projects within time constraints while meeting all quality, cost and delivery targets.

Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Manufacturing and New Product Introduction management and execution
  • Expert knowledge and experience in Consumer Devices (CE) and Industrial Mobile and Fixed Wireless Devices with complex design and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Extensive experience in Surface Mount Technology and further product assembly involving PBCA, Flex circuits, Plastics, Metal, Heatsinks, Displays, Connectors, switches, etc.
  • Experience in high-volume Mobile and Industrial IOT with demonstrated material work experience in a complex assembly manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience with tier-one and CM and ODM partners and working with critical component manufacturers located in Asia.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication that can be tailored to audiences across the organization (shop floor to executive).
  • Effectively collaborate cross-functionally, using a collaborative one-team/one-goal approach.
  • Extensive experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), functional dimensioning, tolerance analysis, and parts approval process (PPAP)
  • Ability to guide efforts in performing value-add analysis leading to meaningful cost reductions in labor and material
  • Self-starter with proven history of driving supply chain capabilities and efficiencies
  • Strong quality process background and understanding of Process Control Plans, FMEA’s (Failure Modes Effects Analysis), 6 sigma and systemic failure analysis
  • Ability to travel internationally, 4-6 times annually.

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing) or equivalent education/work experience.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000This base pay range will vary depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
