Our global team works with cutting-edge technology to make a difference around the world and prides itself on being people-first, customer-focused and fun.You will use your background as a seasoned sales and business development leader to define sales capture strategies to join our growing international team and achieve successful program awards and product sales. There is a special emphasis on business development and sales strategy in this position to relevant local governments and other defense organizations with a goal of expanding new opportunities and leading the regional team. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Global Sales.

We are not able to sponsor relocation for this position and are looking for a local national already located in Tokyo, Japan.

Responsibilities:


  • Work with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Product, Marketing, Finance) on sales opportunities defining and setting sales and go to market strategy, tactics, proposals, and negotiations for all BlackSky product and services.
  • Direct and lead regional sales engagement teams through a collaborative engagement to coordinate, qualify new business leads and opportunities and drive the capture and sales process with government agencies commercial customers, systems integrators, and prime contractors through to successful close. 
  • Direct and leads sales capture efforts for all BlackSky lines of business with customers that align to the business growth strategies and objectives of BlackSky. 
  • Direct and lead new market penetration engagement strategies in collaboration with the regional sales and business development teams to drive net new business growth regionally with all major government agencies, commercial customers, systems integrators, and prime contractors through to opportunity close to achieve regional sales objectives for all lines of business. 
  • Provide quarterly forecasts to management, and monthly forecasts within the current quarter.
  • Responsible for global market growth and expansion to support OnDemand line of business growth through high margin Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) subscription models.
  • Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelors’ Degree in business or an engineering field.
  • At least ten years of experience in the geospatial, ISR, or analytics industry.
  • At least ten years of experience with international defense and intelligence customers
  • Full-cycle direct business development experience with a concentration in technical and/or government sales (this does not include sales support, account management, program management or engineering experience).
  • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • The ability to perform top quality presentations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English and Japanese.
  • Strong organizational skills as a good time manager and effective multi-tasker.
  • Superior complex problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s Degree in engineering/technology field or MBA
  • Experience managing opportunity pipeline in Salesforce or other similar CRM.
