Job Level: Individual ContributorTotal Experience: 4+ yearsRelevant Experience: 4+ yearsPrimary Skill Sets: Technical Writing, CybersecurityRole Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer with a strong background in creating and editing software documentation. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience writing user guides, release notes, reference manuals, and API documentation, ideally for cybersecurity products. This role requires an individual who can work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with engineering, QA, product management, and cybersecurity teams.What You’ll Do & Achieve:
- Develop, write, and maintain high-quality documentation, including user guides, release notes, API documentation, and reference manuals.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather technical information and translate complex concepts into clear, concise documentation.
- Edit and review existing documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to technical writing best practices.
- Organize and structure content to enhance usability and readability for different audiences, including security analysts, administrators, and developers.
- Ensure all documentation meets industry standards, accessibility guidelines, and company style guides.
- Work with development teams to document software updates, new features, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Identify gaps in existing documentation and propose improvements based on user feedback and technical insights.
- Manage and publish content using documentation tools such as MadCap Flare (preferred) or similar platforms.
- Continuously improve documentation based on user feedback, analytics, and evolving product capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a software development environment, preferably working with products related to cybersecurity.
- Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong understanding of technical writing standards and principles.
- Proactive and self-motivated to seek information from various SMEs.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation.
- Aptitude for learning new products, tools, and technologies.
- Must be a self-starter who works equally well independently and in a team environment.
- BA/BS degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with MadCap Flare. (Preferred)
- Proven experience creating documentation for cybersecurity software, including SIEM, TDIR, UEBA, and related tools (preferred).
