Assistant Controller
About the Role:
Matic is looking for a dynamic Assistant Controller to join our growing finance and accounting team. This role will work closely with the Head of Finance & Accounting to oversee key financial processes, drive accuracy in financial reporting, and enhance internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience in financial operations, and a passion for optimizing financial systems. Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly reconciliations of all GL accounts, including revenue, developed software, prepaids, and accruals, ensuring balances are accurate and any variances are investigated and resolved
- Assist in the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled
- Compile partner commission reporting statements in accordance with the Company’s partnership agreements
- Support the Head of Finance & Accounting in analyzing financial data, preparing variance analysis, and providing actionable insights to management
- Lead initiatives to streamline and automate accounting processes, enhancing efficiency and scalability while maintaining strong internal controls
- Work closely with other departments such as sales, customer success, and product to ensure financial processes align with business operations
- Aid with the assessment, scoping, and implementation of various financial systems
- Contribute to the preparation of all financial records and supporting documentation required for the external audit process
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 4+ years of experience in accounting (public accounting or high-growth startup experience preferred)
- CPA is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, data analysis, and process automation (VBA knowledge a plus)
- Experience with financial reporting, revenue recognition, and reconciliations in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to improve financial processes and drive efficiencies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Prior experience in financial services, technology, or insurance is highly desirable
