The Opportunity:
The Accounts Payable Specialistwill be an important member of the ApplyBoard Corporate finance team. They will be responsible for processing payments to partners and vendors in support of ApplyBoard’s global businesses, and will report to the Accounts Payable Team Lead in the Kitchener HQ office. The role will work directly with the senior leaders from across all departments on a regular basis. This position contributes to ApplyBoard’s success by ensuring efficient and accurate payments are processed.
This role will also support any ad hoc requests, including providing data for the cash forecasting process.This demanding role requires a candidate who can quickly become familiar with the ApplyBoard’s payment process. The successful candidate will be able to apply this knowledge to process accurate and timely payments. What You'll Be Doing Every Day:
- Keeping track of all payments and expenditures, including purchase orders, invoices, approvals, statements, etc.
- Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
- Maintaining historical records
- Paying employees and contractors by verifying expense reports
- Paying partners and vendors and responding to all enquiries
- Processing incoming student tuition fees, and student refunds
- Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
- Continuing to improve the payment process
- Build and maintain rapport by delivering excellent customer service
What You Bring to The Table:
- University graduate with a strong academic record; accounting, finance or economics background required
- Superb attention to detail resulting in “0-defect” analysis
- Accounts payable experience a plus but not required
- Strong abstract thinking & problem-solving skills
- Excellent Google Suite and Microsoft Office skills required (Excel including Pivot Tables, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word); experience with Netsuite, Hyperion and Business Objects (or other database related software) a plus
- Fluency in written and spoken English required, other languages are a plus but not required
- 2-5 years of prior work experience preferred, but not required (e.g. as treasury analyst or accounts payable in a dynamic industry)
- Proactive and goal-oriented personality, good at juggling multiple tasks
- Strong self-management, able to work independently
- Sound business sense
- Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be flexible to react to changing priorities
- Good people and communication skills, verbal & written
