Production Test Technician

ESS is seeking a motivated, experienced, hardworking
Production Equipment Technician to join our team.  This person will be responsible for testing, operating and troubleshooting Energy Centers and large battery systems.  This person will also be responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining the robotic machinery and electro-mechanical equipment.   This person may be required to plan, perform and coordinate repairs, and manufacturing expansions in support of the company goals.

What you’ll do at ESS.


  • Read, understand circuit plans and schematics of energy production, electromechanical, and robotic machinery.
  • Use engineering instructions and principles to set up, operate, adjust, calibrate various welding, visual inspection, electromechanical, and energy production equipment.
  • Train operators on welding, electromechanical and energy production equipment using related operation procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and automated machinery systems from error messages, status lights and inspections.
  • Safely use test equipment in diagnose electrical and electronic issues.
  • Safely replace failed low and high voltage components.   Follow proper LOTO procedures to isolate all forms of energy before performing repairs.
  • Track yields from production machinery and diagnose yield issues.
  • Validate equipment and processes after upgrades, adjustments or repairs.
  • Work with engineers to develop and improvements of documentation of operating procedures.

What you bring to the table.


  • Associate degree or 2+ years equivalent experience in the technical field.
  • Proficient with using common hand and power tools, electronic diagnostic equipment, and other like equipment.
  • Working knowledge of programmable logic controllers and relay logic.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment according to OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read and follow the job required standards and safety protocols, and per pre-defined process.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft products, outlook, teams, word, excel.
