Accounts Payable Manager

The Accounts Payable department covers StackAdapt globally and currently consists of two junior staff members. This is a newly created role and comes from the desire to improve processes, enhance controls, elevate company policies to accommodate our continuously changing and growing business.  This role will be working with employees at all levels, locations, and departments across StackAdapt, supporting process, policy, and administration. This person will be reporting to the Director of AccountingStackAdapt is a Remote First company, we are open to candidates located anywhere in Ontario, Canada for this position.

What you'll be doing:


  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable department.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to AP staff, including training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement efficient and effective accounts payable processes and procedures. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Prepare and analyze AP-related financial reports for management, as part of our financial statement close process. 
  • Create and publish employee expenses, corporate credit card and travel policies in accordance with company objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
  • Oversee the use and optimization of accounts payable software and systems. Stay informed about advancements in technology to enhance AP processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting principles, and relevant regulations.

What you’ll bring to the table:


  • Proven working experience in an accounts payable or accounting position with a public company.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership position.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Experience with expense management tools such as Navan, Concur, or similar is required, and proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, policies, and related regulations, including tax implications for vendor payments.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and improve AP processes and controls in a rapidly growing environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar), with a focus on accounts payable modules.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex AP-related issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with employees at all levels across departments.
  • Track record of successfully leading or participating in process automation projects to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with corporate credit card programs and travel expense management policies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and remote-first work environment.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to tackling challenges in a rapidly evolving business landscape.
