Job Description




As public relations manager for the Linux Foundation, you will be pivotal in driving awareness for exciting and impactful open source projects.
You’ll be a key member of the PR team, working alongside marketing teams to grow awareness of open source projects. The right candidate for this role has experience in B2B tech PR, a strong understanding of the tech media landscape, demonstrated ability to craft compelling pitches, generate media coverage, create thought leadership content and manage multiple PR programs. You should also have impeccable time management skills and can thrive in a fast-paced, agency-type environment. Alongside the marketing team, you will work closely with a group of industry thought leaders and program managers, as well as be supported by exceptional teams delivering demand generation tools, creative services, events, analytics, and more.This position is for an individual contributor, no direct reports.Responsibilities:

  • Support PR strategy execution as you grow your subject matter expertise in open source technology spaces and within industries.
  • Manage key PR programs and report on results
  • Execute thought leadership strategy, crafting content and proactively identifying opportunities
  • Generate media coverage across trade, vertical and technology press
  • Manage and maintain relationships with key media and influencers to drive coverage
  • Track KPIs for PR programs across projects
  • Create content including (but not limited to) web copy, blog posts, contributed articles, awards submissions and speaker abstracts
  • Support direct and third-party event PR strategy

Qualifications


  • 5-7 years of experience in B2B tech PR, preferably agency or a combination of agency and in-house
  • A collaborative team player able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Prove experience as a PR pro in B2B technology  a must; and experience working with open source communities preferred
  • Experience with PR measurement and social media management tools and a solid understanding of how to analyse metrics to identify competitive coverage trends and report on KPIs
  • Experience building and leading awards and speaking programs
  • Strong copywriting skills and the ability to create clean first drafts of content
  • Experience working in Google Workspace (G Suite) 
  • Ability to travel internationally to support project events

Salary $80,000 - $110,000 USDCommunications and marketing at the Linux Foundation helps expand awareness of incredible innovations that our community builds together.
