Main Purpose:
The Rigger/Laborer performs any and all job duties involved in assisting with job set up, including but not limited to rigging-up slings, shackles, etc. used to lift/install/move materials and equipment
Essential Functions:
- Assist forklift operators by hooking-up slings and/or install cables to materials or structures as required
- Assist craft workers as needed
- Report any and all defective rigging equipment (slings, shackles, jacks, cracked sledgehammer handles, plate clamps, etc.)
- Willingness and ability to attend training in an exclusive simulated sulfuric acid tower and perform associated tasks on the jobsite
- Willingness and ability to wear VET gear
- Assist in cleaning up work areas as needed
- Perform manual labor tasks
- Rig-up and rig-down equipment and materials
- Perform fire watch duties as required
- Perform hole watch duties if needed
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Physical Requirements:

- Lifting - employees must lift to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Valid TWIC card
Desirable Experience, Education, and Training:
- 1+ years experience in the industry
- Previous experience with VET suit preferred
- Highschool diploma or GED
Tools, Equipment, and Technology:
- Rigging tools and equipment
Environmental Conditions:
80% to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel, /or gas, etc.)Gulf Island will not sponsor applications for work visas.
